The Waubonsie Valley Warriors, coming off of a very successful 2012-13 regular season (10-2), were looking to continue their success on Friday against the Naperville Central Redhawks.Football schedule

After a scoreless first quarter, the Warriors drew first blood with a 23-yard field goal from Junior kicker Josh Polhill with 7:14 left in the second quarter. Three turnovers doomed the Warriors and led them to their first loss to Naperville Central 23-10.

The Warriors’ only touchdown came with 8:45 left to go in the 4th quarter to cut the deficit to 16-10. “We didn’t use our speed as an advantage,” said Illinois State recruit Christian Gibbs. “To correct our mistakes we just need to be more focused and work hard at practice.”

The Warriors will be playing their 2nd game this Friday at home against Oswego. “The team is preparing for our game this week by sharpening up the little things and limiting the mistakes and mental errors,” said Gibbs.
