AURORA – Waubonsie Valley’s leader was recognized on Monday night at the Indian Prairie School District 204 board meeting, earning the Illinois Principals Association Principal of the Year for DuPage region.

Jason Stipp is in his 6th year as principal. Prior to his time at Waubonsie Valley, Stipp spent 12 years in Wheaton’s Community Unit School District 200, the last four of which were as principal of Monroe Middle School in Wheaton.

“Six years ago, you took a chance on me,” Stipp said at the school board meeting on Monday night, “and I appreciate that. It’s always been a desire for me to serve the community that I live in, and it’s a dream come true. I was walking in this morning, thinking just how grateful I am to be a part of that school and that culture. I always tell the kids, ‘I don’t shine if you don’t shine.'”

There are more than 1,000 high schools in 21 regions in Illinois. The Illinois Principals Association is an organization that “develops, supports, and advocates for innovative educational leaders” through professional development and other opportunities. For more information, visit
