AURORA – Second semester final exams at Waubonsie Valley High School will take place May 31-June 2. Exams will be administered over the course of three days. Finals for the senior class will take place on May 22 and 23.
Period 1, 2 and 5 exams will take place on Wednesday, May 31. Periods 3, 8 and 6 exams will take place on Thursday, June 1, and periods 4 and 7 exams will take place on Friday, June 2. Times for make-up exams include Wednesday and Friday from 1:15 p.m. to 2:40 p.m.
The purpose of final exams is to provide a summative experience for students, that assess their understanding of content and development of skills throughout their semester courses.
Teachers will provide information to students in advance about the final exam format. Some courses may opt for a summative experience that will not necessarily be a single period assessment. In addition, students are not required to attend their study hall or lunch period during the final exams schedule.
Administration is strongly discouraging pre-planned absences during the final exam schedule. Students are expected to be in attendance and take their final exams on their regularly scheduled exam date. Students are not allowed to take final exams before the designated exam schedule.
If for some unforeseen circumstance occurs that a student is unable to attend a scheduled final exam, parents or guardians must notify the student’s house office and contact the teacher, so arrangements can be made to complete the required exam.
