AURORA – Metea Valley High School will be closed beginning on Thursday, August 20, for extensive cleaning, “after learning that individuals that were in the school have tested positive for COVID-19.”
On Wednesday afternoon, a release from the school stated “In consultation with the DuPage County Health Department and after ongoing contact tracing by the district’s health services staff, it has been determined that District 204 will close Metea Valley High School and suspend all activities and practices until further notice.”
“Through contact tracing, a health services staff member will notify individuals who need to quarantine as a precaution. A precautionary quarantine does not mean that an employee or student is sick or will become sick, but is a Department of Public Health practice to best ensure the safety of those around them and decrease the transmission of COVID-19.”
Metea Valley was in the middle of distributing Chromebooks to students on Wednesday, and fall sports like boys and girls golf were competing this week. For more information, visit mvhs.ipsd.org.
