Are You Interested In Being a Peer Partner or PE Leader Next Year? If so please read below to find out more about the application process for each program.
Peer Partners: Peer partners are matched up with special needs students during their PE class. It will count as your PE class. The partners assist them as appropriate, whether it is assisting during activities in class, in the locker room, helping maneuver the hallways, or simply just being a good friend to talk to. Peer partners was established to help create a successful adapted physical education class. It is like having numerous “mini instructors” in class but you are participating as well during activities. It helps involve the special needs students both physically and mentally.
Current sophomore and junior students interested in the Peer Partners program should contact Mrs. Woulfe. This program requires an application. Peer Partner Application. All applications are due by Friday, February 2nd.
PE Leaders: This course is offered to students who are interested in developing leadership skills within a Physical Education environment. Junior year students will go through a year of training concentrating on skill development, technique analysis, game strategies, teaching progressions, and lesson-plan writing. A strong emphasis is placed upon the development of responsibility for self and others, leadership skills, and peer teaching. Senior year students will be able to utilize their leadership skills by assisting a Physical Education teacher. Responsibilities include leading warm-up activities, officiating game play, helping students with skill development, and being a positive role model to the students in class.
Current sophomore students interested in applying to be a Junior PE Leader for the 2018-19 school year should contact Mr. Blue. All application materials are due by Friday, January 26th.
