Waubonsie Valley Announces Back-Up Plans for Class of 2020 Events

AURORA – Waubonsie Valley on Thursday announced possible back-up plans to several events for its Class of 2020.

Waubonsie Valley Principal Jason Stipp held a half-hour Instagram live question-and-answer session with students to speak with them personally about the back-up plans.

“We’re going to do something to acknowledge your efforts and commitment to our school community,” said Stipp told students on Instagram.

The school devised two plans, a Green Plan and a Gold Plan.

“If we return [to school] in May, which at this time, we are expecting, follow the Gold Plan,” a statement read. The Gold Plan consists of most dates and times of events, such as graduation and prom, remaining unchanged.

If school returns in May, most dates of senior events will remain unchanged.

If classes do not resume in May, then Waubonsie Valley would enact the Green Plan, which consists of the following date changes:

  • Prom would take place on Thursday, July 9.
  • Graduation would take place on Saturday, July 18.
  • Green and Gold recipients would be recognized online in Mid-May.
If classes do not resume in May, dates of most senior events would change.

Currently, the State of Illinois has issued a shelter-in-place order until April 30. For more information on the Class of 2020 events, visit wvhs.ipsd.org.
